Toucando does leisure sailing. That means enjoyable sailing to interesting destinations. She does not race, and would only consider doing so with a very experienced crew. Crew members are expected to take a full role in life afloat: sharing in helming, boat handling, sail handling, navigation, cooking and domestic chores, etc. within the limits of their experience and ability. The consumption of alcohol under way or prior to sailing is not permitted. Once in harbour crew are welcome to drink ashore or on board. Responsible smoking is permitted - above deck, preferably down wind. We aim to eat well with freshly prepared food. We try to maintain regular mealtimes whilst ashore or at sea, with regular energy boosting snacks and hot drinks. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Enjoying the destination can be as important as the sailing itself. Mutual trust and friendship between crew and with fellow mariners is expected. Safety is always paramount and guides all skippering decisions.
